THE
BEACHES
Let's take
a look at the beaches of Santa Eularia in clockwise order.
Some of the maps are not exactly to scale or quite correct and areal photo´s
are old and not good quality, but they have their value. There are some great beach
photo´s.
S'Aigua Blanca Beach ( Agua Blanca ) Ibiza
Together with Es Cavallet, it is one of the two island beaches officially designated
as nudist. It is very large, with pure white sands and turquoise waters, in a
setting with cliffs all around. From it can be seen the Punta Grossa and the isle
of Tagomago. Bear in mind that the sun goes into hiding before six o'clock on
this beach. It is also an ideal spot together with the cove of Es Bol Nou, in
Sant Josep for plastering your skin with clay from the cliffs, which has a powerful
tonic effect on both skin and hair. This beach has a most varied atmosphere, with
families, hippies and all kinds of people mingling there. It is very pleasant.
There are showers, and a beach bar near the entrance to the beach.

Es Figueral Beach Ibiza
It is known as the fig tree beach, because there are many nearby plots of land
with fig trees. However, the beach itself is not flanked by fruit trees, but instead
by small hotels built on the cliffs. It is happily situated in a cove of white
sands some 400 metres in length, and it has all the necessary amenities of a family
beach, where a variety of aquatic sports can be enjoyed.

Es Pou des LIeo Beach (Canal Dén Marti) Ibiza
Don't expect a large beach, but rather a tiny hidden cove, with a fringe of sand,
only visited by people who seem to be there because they have got lost. Situated
in the Canal d'en Marti, this place has lots of little corners where one can sunbathe
in peaceful isolation, in a marine setting dominated by fishing huts. There are
good restaurants for eating both at the beach itself and nearby.

Cala Boix Beach Ibiza (Cap Roig)
Access to this beach is by way of steep steps down the rocks and the sand is not
as fine as that of other coves in the area, but there is plenty of it. The waters,
more over, are crystal clear and the beach is peaceful. It has two restaurants,
and it is certainly worth visiting.

on the island, where you will enjoy both a pleasant swim and a magnificent meal.

Es Cana Beach (Es Canar or Escana) Ibiza
The popular beach close to the hippie market of Punta Arabi, (Cala Martina beach
is actually closer) which means that it usually attracts quite a crowd on Wednesdays.
The beach has white sand and several beach bars. There are boats linking it with
Santa Eularia, Ibiza Town and Cala Llonga.

Punta Arabi Beach Ibiza
Also close to Punta Arabi, there is Cala Gat, a small cove backed by pines and
junipers, which is visited by very few people, mainly because the sparse sand
which covers it contains a mixture of shingle and stones and the seabed is rocky,
although the water is transparent. To be recommended for those who like solitary
places, different from the rest. To get there, look for the footpath which starts
from Camping Florida. (Camping Florida has been closed down by the authorities
but this will not stop you getting to the path:

Cala Martina Beach Ibiza
This beach is surrounded by small buildings and its main attraction is that you
can bathe safely in an area of white sands and shallow seas, and enjoy aquatic
sports such as sailing. From here, you can see the islets of ilia Redonda and
ilia de Santa Eularia, which are popular with divers because of their underwater
caves.

Cala Pada Beach Ibiza
A small sandy cove flanked by two promontories covered with conifer vegetation.
Shallow waters. Thanks to its proximity with Santa Eulalia it is well connected:
there is a regular bus service and excursion boats during the summer season, and
one can get there also walking. Therefore it is a rather crowded beach with the
typical ambiance of tourists and families enjoying themselves. Services: In the
neighborhood are many restaurants and hotels, offering the necessary services.
On the beach there is rental of sailing boats, sunbeds, sunshades and peddle boats.
There is also the possibility to make a fascinating experience in para sailing.

The scenic beauty of this area, the dense conifers and the Torrent d' Arab! all
contribute to the great appeal of this beach, with its clear, sandy depths. It

At a distance of one and a half kilometres from Santa Eularia, there are
the low cliffs of Ses Roquetes, with a seabed of shingle and rocks hidden
under seaweed, where it is unwise to bathe, but all this contributes to
the picturesque scenery of the area.

Santa Eulalia ( Santa Eularia des Riu ) Beach Ibiza
If you are staying in Santa Eulalia itself, there are a number of beaches
in the immediate vicinity, where you can enjoy the sun and have a pleasant
bathe without any preliminary journey. The main beach adjoins the Promenade
and extends from the Yachting Harbour to the mouth of the river. It offers
every amenity, it has white sands and it is in the heart of the town.
You might also like to make your way to Cala de S'Alga, a small beach
very close to the Promenade, where you can bathe or go for a stroll along
the coast.

Bonzai Beach
Ibiza ( I have named it that because its just down the road from the
hotel of the same name)
This tiny beach I´m sure has a name but for the life of me I cant
find it on any map. I´m guessing this is the smallest beach in Ibiza
and if I´m wrong then please educate me.
Edit:This beach could be called Es Nedador.

Es Calo De S´Alga Beach Ibiza (Known locally as the Don Carlos
Beach as it is in front of this hotel)
Areas of rocks, stones and sand, protected by a man-made stone barrier.
This beach is part of the large bay of Santa Eulalia, a continuation of
the Paseo Marítimo, therefore it is just a short walk to reach
it. Sun beds, sunshades, pedal-boats, bars and
restaurants.

Cala Llonga Beach Ibiza
A family beach in a small resort with hotels and all kinds of services
available. Very popular with the people staying in the area, offering
as it does both convenience and quietness, and also the possibility of
aquatic sports. For winter breaks, it is the place of choice for families
and elderly people, who enjoy the opportunity to take a stroll or play
on the sands.

Sol d'en Serra Beach Ibiza
A cove for those who dislike crowded areas and who look for places of
interest. The exceptional views from the clifftop and the transparent
water compensate for the coarse sand and stones. You will find sun-beds
in the cove, which belong to a small beach bar. ( ( ( some of the people
who regularly go there could be described as giving the place a New age
feel to it ) A very pleasant spot.

Cala Olivera Beach Ibiza
An isolated spot, surrounded by a wooded area, in which you are unlikely
to meet many other people. The sand is coarse and the sea floor is rather
rocky. If peace is what you are looking for, this is your place. There
is no beach-bar and the nearest populated area is the development at Roca
Lisa. You can also bathe at the neighbouring Cala d'Espart, a rocky area
with a number of fishing huts. The film maker Roman Polanski has a house
adjoining this latter cove.
(The dirt track to Cala Olivera is very steep with deep ruts much of the
way and is usually not suitable for cars and only 4 wheeled vehicles should
attempt the final few hundred yards and not at all after rain)

Located in an ideal place for those who enjoy walking, the access to the
beach is through a conifer wood. This cove has rather few visitors, but
it has the attraction of a beach bar where you can eat or drink in a congenial
atmosphere which falls somewhere in between hippie and Jamaican.

Cap Martinet and Cala Roja Beaches Ibiza
The minuscule bathing area of Cala Roja, by Cap Martinet, is another refuge
for lovers of hidden places, although some caution is necessary because
the way there is complicated. When you do arrive, you will find no beach
bars and, probably, nobody else.

WONDERFUL PLACES IN IBIZA
From the watchtower of Campanitx to es Pou des Lleo The Tower
of Campanitx, or of Valls, situated between the beaches of Cala
de Boix and Pou des LIeo, provides a fantastic panoramic view of the small
island of Tagomago,
a paradise for the Eleonora's falcon, its colony on Tagomago is the most
important one in the Balearic Archipelago. The whole of this zone, including
the small peninsula of Cap Roig, has been declared an area of outstanding
natural interest, ANEI: Area Natural de Especiallnteres, in a setting
which includes the hills of Sa Talaia de Sant Carles.
The scenic harmony of this area comes from the combination of the pine
and juniper woods of Cap Roig, the varied crops in the spaces between
the peasant farm houses which symbolise the purest of rural architectures,
and the very rich flora and fauna, especially on Tagomago, where sparrows,
goldfinches and blackbirds nest. Near the little cove of Pou des Lleo,
as well, a pair of Peregrine Falcons has been located. This cove of Pou
des Lleo is a wonderful place to relax in, and if you want more privacy
you can find quiet corners by the fishing huts or on the way to the tower,
where you can bathe or enjoy the sun. The tower has had a chequered history:
there was a terrible explosion there in the year 1864. The official account
attributes the accident to lightning which detonated the gunpowder stored
in the stronghold. Some popular versions, however, have always voiced
the suspicion that the incident was provoked by a scorned lover who wanted
to take revenge on his rival, one of the tower guards. The tower remained
in ruins for many years, but it was restored in 1982. In its days of glory,
it was equipped with two cannons and two tower guards.
Las Dalias Market
At Las Dalias every Saturday, from first thing in the morning until about
nine o'clock in the evening, there is a market which you shouldn't fail
to attend. There you will find clothing, hand-made articles, jewellery,
ornaments and all kinds of other things, in an atmosphere harking back
to the hippie culture, but with just a touch of the twenty first century.
The music and the natural fruit juices will add to the enjoyment of your
visit. You will also find a restaurant on the ground floor of the marketplace,
where you can have a meal. For many years the marketplace has been a temple
of the musical vanguard and some of the best-known international musicians
have performed there.

Es Cana Hippie Market Punta Arabi ( Es Canar or Escana) Ibiza
Every Wednesday, a hippie market is held at Punta Arabi, in Es Canar,
with many stalls where you can also find hand made objects, clothing,
footwear, original souvenirs, music and all sorts of things. This hippie
market is much larger than that of Las Dalias, but it doesn't quite match
its charm.

The road of ceramics and interior decoration On the way to Santa
Eularia you will come across some of the best handicrafts and interior
decoration shops on the island. On the road from Ibiza Town to Santa Eularia,
you will find the best selection of traditional pottery and imitations
of ancient ceramics in Punic and Roman styles. All along this road you
will find many other shops selling hand-made objects.
Ca´n Andreu
On any day of the year, between 15.30 and 16.30, you can visit a seventeenth
century peasant farmhouse. Going from Sant Carles (San Carlos) towards
Cala Llenya and Cala Mastella, on the left-hand side of the road at about
500 metres after leaving the village, you will see a sign to Es Trull
de Ca'n Andreu. There you can explore a typical Ibicencan house which
has been preserved just as it was three centuries ago.

Some of the above information"Beaches and Wonderful Places"
was taken from a very useful book on Ibiza and Formentera called, "Ibiza
Formentera 5 Senses" Published by "Cameleon Art" The book
covers all the other area´s of the island and gives other details
such as accommodation,maps,restaurants and bars.
